During a weekend in April 2008, I went on a hiking trip to Nilgiris Hills in Tamil Nadu, India. Here is a brief description of this trip, which was organized by AdVentura.
The same description is also available in German

We arrived in the morning in a small village at the foot of the mountain. The village itself is surrounded by tea plantations. There, we selected a guide and then set off.
The path first let through tea plantations and then through dense forest, where we had to hack free our own path.

Finally, we reached the peak after about 4 hours. No thanks to the guide: contrary to his claims he did not know the way, and we ended up on the wrong peak. Originally, the target was Needle Rock, the peak at the center of the top-most image. We ended up on the grassy peak to the left.

We camped on the grassy top. A few chose to retire early.

The view at sunset was phantastic.

... Followed by a gorgeous view after sunrise.

The way down was as arduous as the way up. There was even one close call while we followed a stream down, as one of us slipped and slid down quite a way.
